Crooks Like Us

A serie of police registration shots, with “individuals they thought were, or were likely to become, professional criminals”, became a remarkable insight into the past.

The portraits look highly fashionable. Part of the twenties dressing style, and part in their 2-up framing display (which was probably the result of saving film and/or paper).

A high quality image collection of 1920s Australian police photo’s, as on display at the Australia’s Justice & Police Museum exhibition Crooks, can be seen here. They are also published in photo book Crooks Like Us.
